Massachusetts

Greater Boston

  • Revere: Revere Beach 
  • South Boston: Carson Beach,  L  Street, M Street Beach and Pleasure Bay
  • Quincy: Nickerson Beach, Wollaston Beach
  • Winthrop: Winthrop Beach
  • Nahant: Nahant Beach

North of Boston

  • Rockport: Front Beach, Old Garden Beach, Cape Hedge Beach

There's metered parking all along the beachfront, along with a private lot across the way on Beach Street. 

  • Salem: Forest River Park, Winter Island Beach, Salem Willows, 
  • Swampscott: Fisherman’s Beach, King Beach
  • Beverly: Lynch Park Beach, Dane Street Beach, Independence Park, Lyons Park
  • Ipswich: Pavillion Beach (Weekdays Only)
  • Gloucester: Wingersheek, Good Harbor, Half Moon

Blinkay, a beach parking reservation system, for non-resident beachgoers. Reservations can be made up 10 days in advance. Reservations are required for non-resident parking at Good Harbor Beach, Wingaersheek Beach, and Stage Fort Park from Memorial Day Weekend until Labor Day

Gloucester:  Pavilion Beach on Gloucester Harbor, 

  • Manchester-By-The-Sea: Singing Beach

June 17-Labor Day: Non resident parking permitted with $30 fee Monday through Friday when attendant is on duty and space allows. Non-residents require advanced passes for anyone visiting from May 15th through Labor Day.

  • Salisbury Beach Reservation
  • Marblehead  Deveroux Beach, Stramski Beach (very small, very limited parking), Riverhead Beach

Gloucester

Reservations can be made up to 10 days in advance and are required for non-resident parking.

Manchester-By-The-Sea

A beautiful north shore beach with calm waves and deep sand. Non-Resident Parking is limited and is available only at the Beach Manager's discretion. The closest non-resident parking is at Masconomo Park, about a half-mile from the beach

Marblehead

There are a few community beaches, parking can be tricky but each one is pretty different:

  • Devereux Beach (playground area)
  • Fort Beach/Lovis Cove 
  • Gas House Beach on Little Harbor
  • Grace Oliver, shallow water 
  • Riverhead Beach
  • Stramski's Beach (on Salem Harbor) has a playground.

Swampscott

Most of the beaches require a sticker. Pay attention to the tides,  when it's high tide there isn't much beach to play on. These are both shallow, have sandy areas and some rocks to play on.

Nahant/Lynn

Located along the same stretch of road, these three towns offer a large beach, shallow waters and lots of sand to play in and shells to collect. Parking is on street. One word of caution, beware of glass/trash on the beach. https://nahant.org/coastalresources/beaches/

Revere Beach

A large stretch following Revere Beach Blvd and Ocean Blvd: There are local events, restaurants and bath houses. All you need to know:

Ipswich

Pavilion Beach is public, sandy. Parking is tricky as the lot area is only open to residents on the weekends.

Crane Beach - The Trustees

One of the most beautiful beaches in the area, this is open to the public but operated by the Trustees. Parking passes are required in advance/

Rockport

  • Back Beach is near Main Street and open to the public. Small waves and small sandy beach for playing. 
  • Cape Hedge Beach - bigger waves, sandy beach
  • Front Beach - close to downtown, sandy and great for swimming
  • Pebble Beach (pretty rocky)
  • Old Garden Beach - close to town, small but quiet

Salisbury

This one is a bit of a drive, but worth mentioning because it has ample parking, restaurants and a boardwalk.

Parking is per day and is around $15 in one of the many lots. There are also comfort stations with bathrooms, showers and changing areas.

Beverly

  • Dane Street Beach (is large, sandy beach features acres of open, grass fields and one of the city’s most popular children’s play structures). Limited, free public parking available for both residents as well as non residents.  On-street parking available)
  • Independence Park and it’s accompanying beach serve as a perfect place to relax, swim and enjoy a picnic.On street parking for both residents as well as non residents.
  • Woodbury is the larger of the two beaches located at Lynch Park,  seasonal snack bar, bathrooms and Rose Garden.Free parking is available for residents.  Non residents must pay from Memorial Day through Labor Day

Salem

  • Dead Horse Beach (awful name)at the Salem Willows, faces the Beverly harbor. It is one of the larger sandy beaches at The Willows and can be accessed by the public year-round. Free parking.
  • Waikiki Beach at Winter Island Park includes a playground, a boat ramp, a pier, restrooms, and function facilities for special events. Small sandy area, some rocks and forts.

New Hampshire & Maine

New Hampshire

  • Rye: Wallis Sands State Park, Jenness State Beach
  • Hampton:  Hampton Beach, North Beach, North Hampton State Park

Southern Maine

  • Scarborough: Beach State Park, Ferry Beach 
  • Old Orchard Beach: OOB 
  • Kennebunkport: Goose Rocks, Kennebunkport (Permit Required), Beach passes are needed to park along the Kennebunk Beaches. All passes (whether they are a sticker, card or kiosk print-out). Non-Resident - Day  $25.00
  • Wells: Drakes Island Beach, Laudholm Beach 
  • Ogunquit:  Foodbridge Beach
  • York:  Long sands beach, (meter parking + lots)  public parking
